About
this poll.
This poll explores the potential for strong identification
or disidentification of persons named George Bush with the
President named George Bush. This poll uses this doubling
as a metaphor to explore the polarization and mis/representation
of the American citizenry, both to the American people themselves,
and to the world audience.
The multiplicity of these George Bushes is a way to explore
his constructed individuality, a fragile singularity that
is held together despite his own secondary position to his
father, and tertiary relation to his advisors.
This poll was conducted from October 8th to 12th, 2004.
Of the 153 George Bushes of the United States, 47 were contacted,
of which 18 were interviewed, and 12 were too ill to speak
or dead.
